My friend F.’s niece was
getting married. He was telling us
about the upcoming wedding while his girlfriend was out shopping for a dress.
Periodically, she’d send him
photos of the possibilities.
We were talking about the
new dress, how she had to buy new shoes to match, how of course she’d need a
new bag and a new necklace when I said she’d most definitely need some new orrechiette.
Puzzlement turned to
amusement and he said, “Orecchini.” Then, he laughed for five minutes.
I had just suggested that his
girlfriend get some new pasta to wear to the wedding.
